Plug your device directly into your computer’s USB port. Avoid hubs when initializing. Use the official cable and cable orientation shown on-device. If your computer prompts to install drivers, accept only if you downloaded the desktop Suite from the official source.
Before granting permissions, confirm the device model and serial shown in the app match the physical label. Only proceed when on a trusted network and the device screen shows the verification prompt.
Choose "Create new wallet" if this is your first device. The interface will help you generate and confirm a PIN — type it directly on the device if that option is offered. Keep the PIN strong and unique; do not store it digitally or share it.
Your device will generate a recovery phrase. Physically write each word on the supplied recovery card or a steel backup — never take a photo or save it in cloud storage. Store backups in separate secure locations.
Once initialization completes, run a small test transaction to confirm you can send and receive funds. Verify the transaction on-device before you confirm in the app.
Consider enabling passphrase protection for extra security. If sharing custody, learn multi-signature options. For large balances, consider an additional offline backup stored in a separate secure facility.
Try a different USB port or cable, restart the Suite, and ensure OS USB drivers are up to date.
If you didn't save your recovery phrase, don't use the device — reset and create a new wallet following the secure steps.
